Technician | Entry Level

Unlock most HF (high frequency) privileges for worldwide communication. Talk across continents using voice, digital modes, and Morse code.

Take the Exam

​What to Bring

  • Photo ID — Driver's license, passport, or other government-issued ID

  • $15 exam fee — Cash or check (cards usually not accepted)

  • FCC Registration Number (FRN) — Required before your exam. Register at the FCC CORES website

  • Copy of current license — If upgrading, bring a copy of your existing license. Get a reference copy from the FCC

 

After You Pass

You'll need to pay a $35 license fee to the FCC. The FCC will contact you with payment instructions after your exam paperwork is processed.
