General | Intermediate

Amateur Extra | Advanced
Full privileges on all amateur bands. Access exclusive portions of the HF bands with less interference. The highest level of amateur license.

Take the Exam
​What to Bring

Photo ID — Driver's license, passport, or other government-issued ID

$15 exam fee — Cash or check (cards usually not accepted)

FCC Registration Number (FRN) — Required before your exam. Register at the FCC CORES website

Copy of current license — If upgrading, bring a copy of your existing license. Get a reference copy from the FCC
After You Pass
You'll need to pay a $35 license fee to the FCC. The FCC will contact you with payment instructions after your exam paperwork is processed.
